Why are you running for county commissioner?
I am running for Arapahoe County Commissioner because serving in local politics offers the opportunity to participate and make a difference in our community, and to offer concrete solutions to real problems.


What role do your accomplishments have in preparing you for this position?
Through my experiences in teaching, raising a family, and running a business, I have learned:

  • Effective problem solving and decision making skills
  • Managing issues regarding the diversity of people and their needs
  • Leadership skills
  • To use common sense, practical values, and mutual interests to accomplish a common goal

What are your qualifications?
In running my own businesses, serving in administrative positions, and my volunteering on various boards, I have managed budgets, developed working procedures, resolved conflicts, conducted strategic planning, and dealt with diverse constituencies.  All are skills that will be very useful dealing with the challenges I will face as a County Commissioner.


What are your passions?
My passions are my wonderful family, the beauty of Colorado and the outdoors, and of course, participating in service to my community.  I love to teach and to learn.


Nancy is a Colorado native who enjoys the outdoors, music, theater, good food, and playing with her two grandchildren.  She is interested in learning about other cultures and enjoys traveling.  She loves learning new things, and her latest outdoor challenge is fly fishing.  Next up:  learning more about opera!

  • Attended Aurora Public Schools, Graduated from Golden High School
  • Bachelor of Arts, in Psychology - University of Colorado
  • Masters of Art in Counseling - University of Colorado, Denver
  • Doctorate of Communication - University of Colorado, Boulder

Additional experience:
  • Teacher at the Community College of Aurora for fifteen years
  • Taught and conducted research for five years at Clemson University in South Carolina
  • Activity Director of a Nursing Home
